Carbon monoxide is a colorless, tasteless, odorless gas, that in high enough concentrations, can be fatal. Signs of carbon monoxide exposure may be dizziness, headache, nausea, drowsiness, weakness, convulsions, and unconsciousness. A carbon monoxide detector can alert household residents to a threat, even before symptoms appear. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines regarding installation, maintenance and operation of detectors. West County EMS & Fire Protection District will install residential carbon monoxide detectors at no cost to District residents.
